Friends of the Uffizi and the Galleria of the Uffizi have put forth the fourth edition of “The Invisible: Masterpieces from the Uffizi Storage Room”, an exhibit that showcases works that, despite their value and artistic importance, are normally excluded from the regular museum. The Galleria of the Uffizi can only exhibit a small part of its artistic treasury. Of the four thousand five hundred acquisitions that have been made over the centuries, a shocking two thousand five hundred are kept in storage today.
For 2004, the curators have come up with the theme, the “Sights of the Country”, choosing various works from panels to canvases. This show is an excellent combination of roughly five hundred masterpieces by illustrious artists the likes of Botticelli, Van der Wyden, Vasari, Granacci, Magnasco among others.
