The
Farnese Hercules in marble, named so because it
belonged to the Farnese Collection in Rome, is
believed to be an unlarged version made by the
Roman Glycon for the Baths of Caracalla in the
third century A.D. of a statue of the same hero
by Lysippus or his school (dates around 5th
century B.C.). The bronze copies cast in various
sizes are made in the Lost Wax Process, and
finished by hand.
