The
original old and young centaurs in marble, kept
at the Capitoline Museum, are both inscribed in
greek with words of Aristeas and Papias of
Aphrodisias. They are believed to have been
commissioned by Hadrian, at whose villa they were
discovered in 1741, and to be copies of even
earlier bronzes from the eastern mediterranean.
Our copies in bronze, made in the original size
amongst others, are cast in the Lost Wax process.
